Traditional Craft or 3D Printing?

Tiktok has become a phenomenon and is probably more popular than the Corona Virus.

The app has helped in keeping millions of us half sane. Whether you love it or hate it, there's no denying that it has created new trends among the Millennials and Gen Zs. Among those trends is a revival of Traditional Craftsmanship. We see crocheting, rug making, ceramics, DIY, sewing and what not trending all over the internet and people going crazy for it.

This craze for hand made items stems from being conscious of the dangers of mass production. What we have to prevent is using up all natural resources and protect the environment, right? Bringing back old traditions is giving us hope this way.

Now what about using technology to save the planet? Is it possible?

Let us pretend we are in a sophisticated lab where you can print out your clothes in a matter of minutes.

Zero paper, zero samples, zero waste.

No no, it is not a dream or the future. 3-D printing is real and is constantly being developed and researched.

Designers use this method to print out materials, carve them out and make clothes out of them. The best part is that you can reuse the material. Melt it and use it over and over again. Right now it is not 100% wearable. Scientist are still working on making 3-D printed clothes flexible to allow movement and comfort. I think that we are getting closer to the time where you can print out your next outfit in a few minutes.

Which side of the spectrum do you lead towards? Reviving past traditions or experiencing the future?
